[Aaaand we have our first pause.]

[So soon in. They just can't be helped.] You left the infirmary quickly. [She hates small talk so much.]

I have no complaint.

At least I have my health.

Then I will not concern myself with it. Have you been working in the library?

At times. I am avoiding Grindelwald and working at odd hours with Aziraphale. It makes my schedule less than regular.

So long as you've no complaint, that seems acceptable.

That depends on a few things T'Pol, firstly if you can stomach food again. And don't give me that 'Vulcans don't need to eat as much as humans' malarkey, I heard it enough from Spock.

We do not eat as frequently as you. But we do need to eat. I have started again, without - adverse affects.

[Well, that's good because Sam's not so great at small talk.]

Yeah, I did. I stayed with my warden.

[Awesome. Does this count as small talk? It feels like small talk.]

Are you leaving the Infirmary today?

If the Doctor agrees. I would like to.

Fine, you can leave on one condition. You're having either lunch or dinner with me today, pick one and try to suffer through it.

For, uh, y'know, after being in the Infirmary?

I'm having dinner with the doctor. I did not see a reason to plan my return.

Well, uh, how about Sunday?

[Paaaaause.] Would you like to have dinner?

Yeah, I just, uh, I haven't seen you in a while. You you.

It would be nice.

Alright. So, Sunday it is then.

Agreed.

It is. There's a corner near the back that is unlikely to be disturbed.

Very well. I will be there shortly.

[And off she heads for the library, finding that corner near the back - though she's more than a little wary in the arriving.]

*Nero heads for the library himself, far more uneasy than he will ever let on even to himself. He knows he is not the same Nero who met T'Pol during the flood, but he finds he's not entirely sure he wants to let her know. That other Nero's memories are still quite fresh in his mind, and few enough people met that other him.

He finds his usual table unoccupied, and shoves most of the chairs away to make sure it remains so.*

[She spots him and pauses before joining him at the table, needing the moment to collect herself.]

Nero. [T'Pol remained wary as she sat, cautious.] You remember the events of the flood. [It wasn't a question.]

T'Pol. *He's watching her curiously, trying to gauge the difference between this Vulcan and that one.* I do. *Obviously she does, too, or she wouldn't be asking.* In some places much more than I would like.

[People tend to notice the hair, first.] Agreed. [She hesitated a moment, lips pressed tightly together.] You remember the meld.

*He nods, still uncertain just what he thinks of those memories, if he counts them a blessing or a curse.* I do. In some places more clearly than others. *He knows, objectively at least, that she's got to be feeling more than a little awkward about this herself, considering what he found out about her in turn. It just doesn't mitigate his own unease at all.*

[As far as she's concerned, he is still not the Nero who destroyed her planet; which makes this somehow doubly strange. And remarkably difficult to approach.]

I would like to apologize. I would never force a meld outside of those - conditions. [Doesn't mean she won't stay guilty for a while.] And I would like to ask you - to keep what you learned to yourself.

*It's almost equally difficult for him to reconcile this much more--Vulcan-like Vulcan with the woman who had so assaulted his mind. Looking at her now it's hard to believe she's half Romulan, she hides it so well.*

I cannot hold it against you. We all did--strange things, under those...conditions. *Some stranger than others, but still. Strange, in ways he's not sure he wants to think of even to himself.* And I'll say nothing of--it--to anyone. *He can't imagine being that kind of half-breed, nor does he want to; he can't fault her for wanting to keep that to herself. Were it known, both races might despise her, though he supposes in the Vulcans' case it would simply be stiff disapproval. Or something like that.*

[Oh, of course. Vulcans aren't capable of despising anyone. Really. (No not really.) T'Pol inclines her head, and if she's relieved, she isn't showing it.]

Thank you. [Okay, she's definitely relieved. Just doesn't really want to show it.]

I know what it is, to need to keep secrets. I understand why you would not want that one known. *To either side, or even to the Terrans--Fate only knew what they might make of that, other than the kind of curiosity neither a Vulcan nor a Romulan might want.*

[She was more than a little curious to his reaction; it was the sort of thing she'd expected Romulans - and Vulcans - to be affronted by.] And you keep such secrets? [She wondered again about the mind meld, and how Nero had clearly not destroyed Vulcan.]
