[She gave no reaction as he made his first attempt; at the second, her eyebrow raised. Incendio; it sounded Latin, and certainly not what she would call benign. Eying the metal stopper, T'Pol blinked her surprise as it floated. Tilting her head to the side, studying the space between the wand and the stopper, the stopper and the table, she automatically adjusted her PADD, scanning the area. Nothing showed out of the usual, and she set it down as the stopper fell.]

Fascinating.

I'm sure.

[He lowered the wand to his side and looked at her little handheld machine critically.]

What is that?

[Thoughtfully, she eyed the wand for a moment longer before arching an eyebrow at Severus. Though she'd shed many of the High Council's teachings in past years, rules about polluting pre-warp cultures was one she still held tight to. However, given the state of the barge, and its occupants, she doubted her silence on the matter would lessen the damage done.]

It's called a PADD; a Personal Access Display Device. It has multiple functions.

[He allowed the silence to draw out, waiting: he found her answer completely insufficient.]

...Such as?

[Thumbing over the screen, stowing the scans she'd taken of the wand, T'Pol brought up schematics of one of Enterprise's shuttle pods. Turning the PADD to show him the screen, she arched an eyebrow.] They are frequently used in engineering, networking, and subspace transmissions. They are capable of recording logs, audio playback, showing movies, and scanning. PADDs are often used in medical bays, though tricorders are the preferred instruments there.

...Hardly useful in this situation, any of it.

[He gestured lightly with his wand. His curiosity now sated, his tone became cold once more.]

Will that be sufficient, or do you desire further demonstration?

[Another eyebrow arched.] On the contrary, I find it extremely useful in many situations.

[Inclining her head, T'Pol settled the PADD at her hip.] That was sufficient. You can retrieve the ingredients the Admiral left me at my cabin.

[He nods curtly and turns to go, pleased that a part of him has been restored...but pauses and turns back slowly.]

T'Pol...

[The accusations from Prefect are on his mind; he chooses his words carefully.]

I find poisoning medical supplies distasteful.

As do I. [Tilting her head to the side slightly as she looked up at him, T'Pol clasped her hands behind her back.] Understandably, the potions you make will be tested before use. I do not expect to find anything questionable about them. [It was meant to be a sign of trust, but held its threat as well; should her decisions regarding his activities prove to be a mistake, she wouldn't hesitate to take action.]

A wise precaution, of course.

[It was a small capitulation.]

However, I will not be subjected to conjecture and suspicion regarding the task to which I have been assigned. If you wish for my aid in this venture, do not allow them to take with one hand and point the proverbial finger with the other.

That was not my intention. If you wish me to tend to your good name, I will do so within reason. When you have proven that they were remiss in their suspicions, the task will be much simpler.

[He smirked, but is was cool and humorless.]

I have no good name to speak of.

But do give credit where credit is due. We both know what sort of man I am - and I do not poison invalids.

No, that is not your style. [T'Pol arched an eyebrow, head tilting to the side.] As I said, if it is your desire for me to defend your - standing, I will.

It isn't my desire, but as I am currently not in a position to defend myself, it will have to do.

Understood. [She stepped around him, moving for the door.]
