[T'Pol is angry. She's hiding it pretty well, but anyone close to her can recognize the hard lines in her face. She's pretty much had it with the way things are structured, and that on top of pretty much feeling Trip dying is enough for a brisk little Vulcan rant.]
The hierarchy on this ship is extremely simple: there are wardens, and there are inmates. Wardens bestow privileges on their inmates if they are deserving, and remove them if they are not. This has worked in the past, as far as pairings are concerned, but it is no way for a ship to be run. We are regularly at the Admiral's mercy, but this was not his doing; it was something that could have been avoided. We need a command structure beyond warden, inmate, and Admiral. Had there been a captain to turn to, or a security force, steps could have been taken at the first sign of trouble.
In knowing there are people to turn to during times of crisis, we would avoid panic, and paranoia, and the need to protect those close to us while ignoring the other occupants of this ship.
I highly doubt this would have happened if we had a structured chain of command. Perhaps we should reinstate the security detail. [And click. She is not pleased, Barge.]

Have you slept?
[Private to Kirk]
Are you recovered?

Are you alright? ...no, of course you're not. Is there anything I can do?

Of course I'm all right. I'm stating an opinion, and would appreciate support - if there is any to be had.
no subject
Well, that's good.
[You liar :c]
I would support you. I'm used to a command structure back home. But I think there are not a lot of other wardens that would submit to being under someone's command.

[Video] LATER! When he's back in his room. And... not high.
That being said, I also, despite respecting my boss, do have the tendency to walk out on him and go do whatever the hell I want if I'm absolutely positive that it's the better plan.
I've been informed that the security detail gave certain wardens a feeling of superiority over others. Likewise, just as the infirmary was struck this time next time the security detail could be targeted. Even the polls as pointed out by Rayne contain oppressive insinuations, though not perhaps in the way people were expecting. In any case, Snape's resolution of a committee is likely the best one.
I also worry that if someone was appointed a head, another one would be angry that they were slighted and felt that they were more deserving either by time served or by influence rather than raw qualification. There's a lot of... unreliability and inconsistency here. I think we'll have to make the best with what we have.

But I'm a man used to serving underground, ma'am. And when you're beyond the system, no one notices you.
[Video] But high K, you were so fun. :c
Perhaps if the system changes, so too will the people who remain. [Meaning if someone's gonna bitch and whine about not getting captaincy, maybe they shouldn't be here. >|]
[Video] Shhh he's pretending that didn't happen

If my theory concerning the ship is correct, and the ship itself is the sentient being and the Admiral is its representation, then perhaps the ship has chosen all of you to be its captain.
I do miss my own ship, though even with a command structure, even with a collective force, there's still weakness. I was once recruited to be this weakness, so I know it all too well.

[Paaauuse] I am not claiming that hierarchy and structure is perfect. It has its flaws. But operating in mass chaos has done us no favors.
