Has the mistletoe begun to recede yet, or will we be forced into circuitous routes for another month?

Omega's note on resolutions is excellent; we make no such self promises on Vulcan. I find the practice to be very...unnecessary. It seems they are so rarely followed through on. Why bother at all?

I received the pot. If you are not busy, perhaps you will help me move the kal'ta into its new home.

I find myself wondering how I have managed to come across a promise for 'home cooking' while receiving a replicator. Thank you; I can strike 'learn to make mashed potatoes' off my to-do list.

It'll need to be watered in. Beyond that, it should take care of itself.

[Her vines slide in, more delicate than blunt fingertips, teasing open the tightly bound plug of soil and roots as they move it over toward the new pot.]

[T'Pol let Ivy lead, following her example and being as gentle as she could with the roots. She was careful of catching roots as she lowered it to the new pot, too.]

Is pruning an unacceptable method? [She did suggest that, too, and there is apparently a whole world of plants T'Pol was unaware of before they met.]

[Ivy lifted her eyes.]

Unacceptable to me or to them?

[Well there's a question. T'Pol tilts her head, thoughtful.] Both.

It's better for them to be pruned than outgrow their accommodation and starve to death. They understand that. So do I.

You could have given us pruning shears. [Us, because she noticed that the pot was addressed to the kal'ta. But saying 'you gave my plant a gift' just seems weird.] Instead you chose the pot. I was curious if there was a reason.

[She arches her eyebrows.]

If I'm given the choice between increasing the size of the plant's living space or decreasing the size of the plant, there's little reason for me to choose the latter.

[Welp that's logical. T'Pol just arches one eyebrow in response, making sure the kal'ta's settled in before adding,] Then thank you. This plant has been in my family for generations.

[She brushed off her hands, standing and disappearing into her bathroom, returning with a towel.] Do you have any questions for me?

[She's quiet only a moment.]

I understand that you can limit my abilities without chemical intervention. You haven't. Why?

It's a part of who you are. [She tilts her head to the side a moment, considering.] I have been made human during breaches and floods before. It was difficult to adjust to. So long as there isn't another incident in the CES, I see no reason to force you to adjust.

[For now, anyway. Making the Borg Queen behave humanely didn't work out so well, so she's deciding to try that later on, if at all.]

[This is something of a surprise and more diplomatic than she expected, but she doesn't let it show.]

No more than I've already been forced to, you mean.

[A bit of a catch-22. She can keep her neutered talents so long as she doesn't use them - at least not for any purpose T'Pol would consider abuse. It's better than nothing.]

[T'Pol nods.] If in time you convince me that you should have your full capabilities returned, I will request it from the Admiral.

[She almost asks how she would be expected to do this, but she suspects that part of the answer would be 'don't act like you're single-mindedly dedicating yourself to that particular goal'. So she simply nods.]

[She returns the nod again, and goes to get some water for the kal'ta.] Is there anything else you'd like to discuss?

Not right now. Will you be scheduling regular meetings or just...surprising me?

I see new reason to meet if we have nothing to discuss. You're free to contact me at any time, and I assume you will allow me the same freedom as well. As I understand it, you don't yet have a job here. Is that correct?

That's correct. [And she's got nothing to add to that, waiting to see if T'Pol has any suggestions of her own.]

I'll find out who's currently in charge of the greenhouses, if you'd like to work there. [She arches an eyebrow. Starting the trust up high there.]

[Just a smidge. And a high measure of trust from the offset isn't something she's used to, in captivity; she recalls one of her few professional encounters with Harley, the other woman offering a handshake in full awareness that Ivy could kill her in seconds.]

I would. [A beat.] Thank you.

[Another nod. three years is a long time to learn; she barely gave Severus back h is wand.]

I'll contact you when I have an answer.

[Ivy simply nods and gets to her feet, ready to leave.]

I'll speak to you then. The kal'ta may need a little extra water over the next few days while it acclimatises.

Understood. I'll be sure to see to it.

[She thinks that could have gone much worse, and might even be allowing herself some hope for the next few months in their relationship. T'Pol heads to the door, pushing the button to slide it open.] Thank you for your assistance.

[Ivy almost makes the distinction that she wasn't offering T'Pol the help, but she can see the rationale in being grateful for it nonetheless.]
