This should prove interesting. If I might ask, what have former ports been like? I would appreciate some foreknowledge, whether they have been similar or not.

Severus, have you had any survival training? I would like to know where we stand.

Lieutenant Reed, are you planning to disembark tomorrow?

Well, for the most part, they've usually got at least one nasty little surprise for everyone.

That and something cataclysmic, right at the end.

No! With epic fail!

Almost...

We went to a theme park, once, but it's pretty rare to get something 'nice'. Considering these things are meant to be tests for whoever we've been paired with, that doesn't surprise me.

Oh, this'll be difficult...

They're huge parks constructed almost purely to provide customers with entertainment. The bigger resorts house, like, entire zoos and hotels and stuff in them, too. They're usually based around a theme decided by whoever owns them.

That one was Disney, so... It had Disney characters, rides and products coming out the whazoo. Should be something in the library about it, if you're interested.

It might own Starfleet!

For the most part, I believe so. Unless someone fell off one of the rides.

The last, and only, port I went to, Commander, I fell off the Barge, lost all sense of myself, and ended up enacting the part of Brutus to the Master's Julius Caesar. I say Caesar. I mean a combination of the worst qualities of Caesar, Nero and Caligula.

I have higher hopes for this port, however.

Sexby wonders what's wrong with it too. He'd have done the same if he were him.

[identity profile] accountsettled.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
I am lead to believe that Q brought me back through some sort of power of his. Were you here when Q was?

sexby in canon pretty much = brutus-who-failed

[identity profile] accountsettled.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
I tried to avoid it at the time, trust me, Commander. I think many people managed to be persuaded they were actually themselves before the end of the port.

he had five loaded pistols, but an unreliable co-conspirator who snitched on him.

[identity profile] accountsettled.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I think that depended on where they ended up. I got the lasting impression of drinking, debauchery and excessive violence, from what I found out afterwards.

[identity profile] tactical-alert.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
We'll see. I suppose I could try to get in something like this on my own before I've someone to look after.

[identity profile] tactical-alert.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
[oh good because his life really needs to get shittier, sure, KEYWORDS] ...Then I suppose I'll take this opportunity. I may as well treat it like a shore leave. Or survival training. Something more enjoyable than these difficult times you speak of.

Survival training?

You don't seriously believe I'm going, do you?

subtlescience: (Default)

Oh, he's going.

[personal profile] subtlescience 2009-11-22 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not concerned.

I'm not going.

I suppose it doesn't matter that I dislike the outdoors.
